UNION DEPOT - Bartlett, Tennessee
CLIENT - Blue Sky Communities, Inc.
DESCRIPTION - Bartlett was once an outpost known as “Union Depot,” which sprung up with the advent of stagecoach and rail transportation. The area was settled in 1829 and incorporated as Bartlett in 1866. Much like the City of Bartlett, this project site has seen changes over the years. For a long time, the site housed the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes’ Bartlett location. After that facility permanently closed in 2018, the property sat vacant, waiting for the best use to meet the City’s modern needs. This new development, named as a nod to the City’s history, provides an opportunity to bring life back into the vacant site.
Union Depot is a planned mixed-use development that will provide multiple living opportunities and entertainment venues for residents and visitors. It will serve as a daily live/work environment for some. For others, the site provides a place for residents or visitors to stroll down tree-lined neighborhood streets to the Village Center for dinner, shopping, or other activities.
The interconnected circulation system weaves through a blend of residential housing types including single-family, townhomes, lofts, and flats. In addition to its residential components, Union Depot will include ground-floor retail for shops and restaurants. The blend of residential and commercial uses will add character and bolster economic sustainability to the site and its surrounding areas, creating a vibrant development that respects the City’s history while looking ahead to its future.
